“Dűvő” comes from an ancient Indian and Indo-European word for “duo”, “two” etc. In Hungarian folk music, such as the traditional czardas, slow and recruiting dances, and also in the music performed by Gypsy musicians, “dűvő” is the accompanying musical element, a form of rhythm performed by the musicians of the band playing the viola and the contrabass.

The Dűvő Folk Music Group plays Hungarian folk music in traditional style. It has performed in concerts as an independent orchestra since 1981. Its repertoire contains all kinds of music of the ethnic groups in the Carpathian basin. They use some interesting and rare musical instruments including bagpipe, reeling flute, dulcimer, pastoral flute etc. The members of the group also collect and teach folk music. The members of the company are Dénes Hrúz, Ferenc Andrássy, Szabolcs Hrúz, István Nagy.

@pier: It's a pleasure you know and like them! They are not really well known even in Hungary. I have three more CDs of them, I will publish them as well.
